Review: Argan Oil and Rosehip Oil by Nouris

"Oils" have been all the hype lately, apparently. And I now understand why. I was recently sent a bottle of pure argan oil and a bottle of pure rosehip oil by an company called Nouris to review. Here are my thoughts.

Nouris Argan Oil

Review: I've never tried argan oil before. I had always assumed that you use it like any other hair oil: work it into your hair, after washing, when it's dry/semi-dry. The directions surprised me. It says to apply it to hair 30 minutes prior to washing. I obediently followed the instructions. My hair looks greasy once all my strands are coated. While waiting, I'd read a book, eat my breakfast, etc. I then wash it off with my John Frieda shampoo and conditioner. After that my hair felt AMAZING! It became extra soft and smooth. This is by far the best hair oil I've tried. I've been using it for a few weeks now and I love it. I don't know if it's because it's a good combination of products. I will post an update if and when I test this oil with other shampoos and conditioners. Here's a tip if you decide to buy this product and use: brush your hair after applying it to your hair and before you have to hop into the shower.

Review: I have tried rosehip oil before and this product did not disappoint. It very moisturises my face without making me oily. Although, the initial application might feel a tiny bit greasy but it absorbs quite quickly. And you won't feel like your pores are clogged up at all. This is an excellent product for oil control. So if you have an oily T-zone (like me) or an oily skin in general, do give this a try. It has worked wonders for many, including myself.

To finish off this review, I'd like to point out that these products come in glass bottles. So a huge tick of approval from me! They also come with a simple good quality plastic pump, which is hygienic and easy to use. And lastly, they are not chock full of parfum/fragrance, which sends me sneezing the whole day.

Sukin Rose Hip Oil Review

Review: Zoe Foster swore by rose hip oil and advocated it in her book, Amazing Face (read my review here). I've been meaning to get my hands on a bottle ever since I read her recommendation. I wasn't until a couple of months ago when my face got attacked by bouts of acne that I got desperate. I contacted the PR for Sukin and they were very kind in providing me a bottle to trial.

I had high hopes for this product. My imagination ran a little wild. I wanted to believe that it was the magic bullet that my skin had been waiting for. I wanted the product to clear up my acne and fade my scars and essentially give me flawless skin. Big mistake, Ty! When you have higher expectations, you just crash down with disappointment harder. I am by no means implying that I am disappointed with this product. No, I am trying to remind you and myself that one must be realistic when trying out new products.

I trialed this product for a month. I gently pressed and massaged it onto my skin day and night, after cleansing but before moisturising. Three drops was sufficient to cover my entire face. I apply any residue on my hands onto my neck. The biggest difference I noticed was oil control. I had a slightly oilier T-zone. Now, my whole face is even; it helped keep my face moisturised but not oily. I highly recommend this to people who have oily T-zone or skin in general. Unfortunately, the benefits stopped there for me. I have read reviews whereby this product faded acne scars and did many other amazing things. But hey, no one product will work for everyone.

I really like that this product came in a glass bottle. I dislike oil products in plastic bottles, particularly cheap plastic. Somehow, oil just seeps and oozes out of cheap plastic bottles. I also like that it came with a glass dropper, minimising contamination of the product. My favourite bit is that Sukin is Australian made and owned.

I've stopped using this product for a couple of weeks now to see if it makes any changes to my skin. So far my oil control is holding up. To me it means that its effects are long-lasting, which is great! This means that I'll use it whenever I need to. I'm guessing I'll start using it again as the weather warms and my T-zone gets oily again. I am not in love with this product but I do like it. I believe that you've got nothing to lose by giving it a try because it has done wonders for a lot of people.

Triple S: Santorini Sun Nature's Facelift Oil Review

Hello ladies (and perhaps gents?)! Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Today I'll be reviewing a face oil by Santorini Sun. I was sent this product over a month ago and have been trying it out for a few weeks now, so I thought it's about time I wrote a review for it.

If you've never heard of Santorini Sun before, let me give you a quick run down:

- Uses natural ingredients (such as olives and oranges)
- Products are made in Australia

Now, back to their product, Nature's Facelift Oil

Claims: Works on wrinkles and crow's feet; boosts new cell growth; works on eczema, age spots and scars; moisturises and hydrates; fast absorbing

Review: 

 

Firstly, I would like to talk about the packaging. I love how it came with a pump so it's very easy to dispense the amount you want. It's also hygienic because you're not pouring back in product that has been exposed to the air (that's full of dust and microbes). The bottle is made out of plastic. Although I prefer glass, I have to say that this means it's very light to carry around and it won't break easily even if you drop it.

 

 

This product is made out of Pure Olive Squalane Oil, which mimics our skin's sebum. The oil is clear (practically transparent) and absorbs into the skin quite quickly (as promised on the bottle). For the first two weeks of trialling this product, I applied it to my face in the morning and at night before I go to bed as religiously as I could. I found that my normal/combination skin became drier. In terms of moisturizing or hyrdating my skin it didn't work. It makes sense because my skin cells most likely detected an increase in oil, so they decreased their production of sebum to balance it out. Hence, my skin became drier.

 

 

The good news is, this oil has managed to lighten a scar on my thumb, slightly. I think if I keep applying and do so diligently, it will completely erase the scar. It also hasn't induced any breakouts, which is of utmost importance to me. However, I have to admit that I've stopped using it on my face and only use it on my body now. Yes, don't let the name fool you. So it's actually a face and body oil.

Overall, I love the concept of this product. It's functions are similar to Rosehip Oil, except it's much more affordable. Although it didn't work on my face, I have to say that it does not mean that it won't work for you. I'm thinking it might be good for anyone with oily skin to give it a go.
