Review: This product has another name, "Crealine H20". I just want to mention that in case there is any confusion. 

I've been wanting to try this makeup remover for a very long time; ever since Lisa Eldridge recommended it in one of her videos. I finally bought a bottle when I ran out of my L'Oreal Gentle Eye Make-up Remover Waterproof. Let me tell you this, it's amazing! I wish it had hit our shores sooner! It takes waterproof/long-wearing makeup off easily and does not leave any residue behind. So you definitely won't need to rub your eyes raw. 

The only tip that I feel I need to share with you is that when you pressed your soaked cotton pad to your eyelid, don't do it too hard. Why? I've pressed so hard that I squeezed some of the solution out and it ran into my eyes. It stung a little and my eye was irritated and uncomfortable for nearly an hour or so. In my opinion this is more effective at removing makeup than the L'Oreal one. And the great thing is, it's safe for sensitive skin. It really leaves your skin feeling clean.

Wicked Wednesday: Eye Makeup Removal

I recently came across this article about removal of  eye makeup. No, it's not written by some celebrity makeup artist or by a makeup remover manufacturer. It was written by optometrists/eye doctors. It's really fascinating because what they write in the article is true and not many makeup-wearers are aware of it. Not removing makeup properly does not just clog your pores, your eye makeup will irritate your eyes and affect the quality of your tears. Women who wear lots of mascaras and line their waterlines are more prone to dry eyes.

You might think, "Okay, so what? I can just use eye drops." Yes, but tears are an essential part of your defense/immune system. It contains enzymes that can break down bacteria, which helps to protect the eye from infections. Using eye drops will keep your eyes moist but it will not contain all the natural enzymes that your tears have. Since I've read the article, I've been cutting down on waterlining my eyes. I still wear mascara but since I seldomly wear makeup, it should not affect me. 

However, if you do wear a lot of eye makeup and love and cannot live a day without it, just make sure you take time to remove your it. The article advises against using waterproof makeup and oil removers because it leaves a bit of residue behind. Please read the article for a full explanation. A way to improve the quality of your tears is to eat fish regularly. A lot of fish contain omega 3 fatty acids.

As for actual makeup removal (including eyes), I love Lisa Eldridge's method. She's a high profile makeup artist who has worked with Kate Winslet, Emma Watson and (let's not forget!) Katy Perry, just to name a couple. She's really amazing and very knowledgeable. I thoroughly enjoy watching her Youtube videos.

 I have been trying these facial wipes for a few months now. I don't wear makeup very often and only do so when I am in the mood for it. I use these wipes to remove my makeup on the bus on my way home at the end of the day. Mind you, I pretty much only wear mascara and tinted moisturiser on most "makeup days" so they are easy to remove. I find that these wipes can remove makeup better than my makeup remover + cotton pad. The tiny little bumps on the wipes really help "scrub" my mascara off. So it essentially takes me less than 5 minutes to wipe everything off my face. This is not to say that I have not tested this product with heavier makeup. It removes heavy makeup just as effectively but you'll need two as opposed to one wipe.

I really love that this product is perfume, alcohol, colour and oil free. Perfume and colour in particular can cause skin problems/allergies because most of the time, they are artificially made. These wipes really cleanse my face, leaving my skin feeling fresh and clean. It states that it hydrates as well. Although I have not felt the acclaimed hydrating properties, I must admit that these wipes are not drying at all. So this does not replace the need to moisturise.

For me, the packaging is of reasonable quality. However, I am not a big fan of the "tape-back cover top" because most of the time it's hard to seal it back perfectly. This means that the wipes can dry up easily. So far, I have been able to keep the wipes moist and working. What I did not like about this product, especially at the start, was that it was heavy and bulky and thus a pain to fit and carry around in my bag. The heaviness and bulkiness reduces as I use the wipes of course. Nevertheless, I have found a solution to combat this problem of mine. I took a clean and new zip-lock bag and designated it as my "portable wipes bag". So every "makeup day", I would put one new wipe into the zip-lock bag before popping it into my bag and leaving the house.

This product contains 25 wipes and normally retails for AUD$7.50. I got it for $5 around sale time so it was quite a bargain! Would I repurchase this? Yes, unless I discover something better. Unfortunately, I cannot confidently recommend this to everyone because I have read a few bad reviews on this product. There are people who feel a film of residue left on their skin after using these wipes. However, like I have mentioned before, there isn't a single product that is for everyone. So if you have normal skin (not dry or oily) that is not sensitive like I do, I think it's safe to say that this product will most probably work on you. Overall, I am happy with this product.
